Contact Lens Specialty

Contact lens evaluation and design is an exciting part of my practice. We are very successful at fitting both soft and rigid gas-permeable lenses. The multitude(myriad) of options currently available make it easier for me to solve my patients' contact lens needs.

Some of the current lens choices are:

  • soft lenses - for daily or extended wear
  • gas-permeable - rigid lenses for daily or extended wear
  • soft disposable -two weeks daily wear or one week extended wear
  • One-day soft disposable - wear 'em one day & throw 'em away!
  • astigmatism soft or rigid - daily wear or disposable
  • bifocal gas-permeable lenses - in a new progressive design
  • mono-vision soft or hard lenses - (alternative to bifocals), cosmetic tinted lenses - available as disposables
  • Orthokeratology - vision improvement lenses.
It is very rewarding to design lenses for someone who has been unable to wear lenses in the past. I am often able to improve on a patient's ability to wear lenses comfortably and with improved vision. I personally enjoy fitting the new improved gas permeable designs, because there can be many health benefits over soft lenses.

Testimonials

"I've seen other optometrists for my vision problem, and while they all helped somewhat, none provided the personal touch that Dr. Kaplan did." - Tom Harrington

"Dr. Kaplan's skill and expertise in fitting contact lens prescriptions has been demonstrated to me on an ongoing basis. My vision is one of extreme nearsightedness coupled with high astigmatism. While it took one doctor over six months to accomplish my fitting, Dr. Kaplan zeroed in and corrected it effectively in two visits." - Sally Schumacher
