Comprehensive Eye Health

We allow a complete hour for your comprehensive vision exam. It is important to get a thorough medical and eye health history in order to learn about your specific vision needs. Your vision examination will include a prescription for glasses, which may be specific for distance, reading or computer use. We can customize your vision correction for your computer screen or any hobby. Your eye health evaluation will screen for glaucoma, cataracts and retinal problems due to diabetes or hypertension. Special emphasis is placed on binocular vision testing during your eye examination, because many vision problems such as headaches, eyestrain, or double vision result from poor flexibility of the eye muscles.

We will then discuss a plan of action, which often includes the fitting of contact lenses and choosing the proper eyewear and lens options.

Digital Photography of the Eyes

Our new retinal camera offers an instant high resolution photo of the retina, optic nerve and macula. We recommend this state of the art screening test to all our patients to assist in the early detection of glaucoma, age-related macula degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachment and ocular tumors. This digital record is highly valuable for comparisons at future office visits or sharing with your general practitioner. In many instances, the photograph can be taken without the use of dilating drops. There is an additional charge for this test.
